Why We're Launching Curio Camps With a Free Day (Not a Sales Pitch)
September 2026
Most camps launch with a registration page and a countdown clock. We're launching with a free half-day — December 12, 2027 — because we want Mississauga families to meet us before anyone asks for a deposit.
That isn't a marketing gimmick. It's how we think a local camp should start.
We'd rather earn trust than rush a booking
Parents of kids ages 5–11 are careful for good reasons. You're trusting strangers with your child's day, your logistics, and often your first real break in weeks. A glossy brochure doesn't answer the questions that actually matter: Will my kid feel safe? Will the staff notice them? Is this just busywork with a STEM sticker on it?
A Free Discovery Day lets families answer those questions in person. Kids get to try indoor STEM and art. Parents get to see the tone of the room. Nobody has to "commit to the brand" to find out if it's a fit.
Local businesses earn loyalty differently
We're building Curio Camps as a Mississauga business, not a franchise template dropped into another city. That means the first relationship we want with families is a real one — a morning or afternoon together, not a cart abandonment email.
Free Community / Discovery Days do something paid seasons can't do as well on day one: they bring curious families into the same space without the pressure of a full week purchase. Some will love it and pre-register for March Break or Summer. Some will decide it isn't for them. Both outcomes are fine. Clarity beats a reluctant signup.
What the Free Day is (and isn't)
It is: a low-barrier way to experience Curio Camps — hands-on STEM and creative work, small-group energy, and a chance to meet the people behind the program.
It isn't: a hard sell disguised as hospitality. We're not running a free hour so we can corner you with a payment link before you leave. If the day goes well, you'll know. If you want next steps, registration for Discovery Day is open. March Break and Summer pre-registration stay available when you're ready — still with no payment required today on the priority list.
Why this helps families *and* helps us build thoughtfully
Honestly: a free day also helps us build the community we need before paid seasons launch. Early families who show up, ask questions, and share feedback make the camp better. They also help us reach other Mississauga parents through the channels that actually work — school chats, neighbourhood Facebook groups, and word of mouth — instead of shouting into a void with ads alone.
If you're reading this because you're sceptical of "free" offers, good. Scepticism is healthy. Come see the room. Bring your kid. Decide afterward.
